OBSERVATION REPORT ON THE JUST CONCLUDED FEDERAL HOUSE AND HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ELECTION SOKOTO STATE HELD ON THE 25TH JANUARY 2020

 

The Federal House of Representative and House of Assembly election was observed due to cancellation of the election which was held on April/May 2019 General election Prior to this election necessary arrangement was made by INEC to accommodate a transparent election.

Observation:The Observation work was done in the following areas:-

1.     MagajiRaffi ‘A’:-MagajiRaffi A in one of the polling units where election was held. The Unit No of Magaji ‘A’ is O14. It has total number of registered voters as 788. The number of PVC collected is 783. Accreditation started by 8am. Other item collected are result sheets. There are also Party Agents (PDP, APC) Security (Police and Civil defence)

Comment: there was Malfunction of card reader and this delayed smooth work of polling Officers. The name of the Senior Polling Officer is Okoli Mary Onyeyechi.

2.     SARIKE ADA:-the name of the Polling Officer is RobensonEdim Sam; the unit No is 0012, accreditation started by 9am. Total Voters Registered is 899: The unit was Given 3 booklets and Ballot papers. There were party Agents which include PDP and APC security: - There were Police Men & Women on Duty. The card Reader was not faulty. There was peace and the Queue was moving normal.

3.     SARKI MUSALUMI:-The registered Voters was 1215. The polling officer’s name is AbdulahiMagaji. The unit No 011. There was Peaceful voting, as there was no problem with card Reader and peaceful atmosphere.

4.     TAFIDA AMINU PRIMARY SCHOOL:- This Polling unit in this Sokoto South. It is unit 001. It has Number of 572 voters. Here, election went smoothly and there was no election violence which made the officers Performed well and the Card reader did not show any show any sign of default. Though at about 11am, some…

RECOMMENDATION:- there should be checking of the Card Reader before its usage on the appointed date. There should be enough enlightenment to the populace to enable them come out to perform Civic Responsibilities, INEC should matter of urgency work in to the strategy to curb the menace of vote buying for it is a trend that will do no go to our democracy.
